T-SHIRT DESIGN COMPETITION
The American Turkish Association of Washington DC (ATA-DC) is launching a t-shirt design competition in celebration of the 15th Anniversary of its award winning DC Turkish Festival. This year’s festival will take place on Sunday, September 24, 2017 on Pennsylvania Ave NW, between 12th and 14th St. and feature the World City of “Istanbul” with a focus on bridging cultures.
ATA-DC invites all interested designers and design students from around the World to participate in the contest with designs that emphasize concepts of unity, connection, and harmony with elements from Istanbul, Turkey and Washington, DC.
ELIGIBILITY
Open to all artists (professional, amateur and student) and all ages. Minors who enter must have the written consent of a parent or legal guardian in order to enter artwork in the contest.

DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES
Entries must be received by Midnight (EST) August 30, 2017. Please submit your design by email at festival@atadc.org at the latest by midnight EST on Wednesday, August 30, 2017. You may submit more than one design. Please indicate “Turkish Festival T-Shirt Design Competition” in the subject line.
AWARD
The winner will be recognized on the Turkish Festival stage, website, festival social media and will be presented a certificate of achievement. If the winner is outside the Washington DC area the award will be mailed to the winner. The winning design will be printed on the official Turkish Festival t-shirts 15th year edition.
THEME
The Turkish Festival has been a part of the DC culture and arts scene since 2002. This year we are celebrating 15 years of the festival, “Connecting Cultures for 15 Years in Washington, DC” The design needs to emphasize concepts of unity, connection, and harmony with elements from Istanbul and DC.
SPECIFICATIONS FOR PRESENTATION
The following information must be included in the design: “Connecting Cultures for 15 Years” All artwork must be original. All other work is subject to disqualification. We may add Turkish Festival logo later.
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
One-color design (to be printed on white or red t-shirt) Either hand drawn in all black ink/no pencil lines or a computer graphic created at 300 dpi or more JPG, PDF, EPS file formats are accepted Max area is 11.5” x 14.5” (vertical or horizontal both accepted)
RETENTION OF DESIGNS
The entries become the exclusive property of the Turkish Festival and ATADC. The Turkish Festival has exclusive rights to the reproduction of winning entries and the submitting artist relinquishes all rights to such design. All proceeds from the sale of T-shirts will go to the Turkish Festival.
PUBLICITY AND AGREEMENT
Entering this contest constitutes an agreement by the winning artist to relinquish all copyrights to the submitted work to the festival. The Turkish Festival commitee has a right to make necessary revisions to winning arwork.
