ATA-DC Ataturk School for Children
ATA-DC's Ataturk School for Children was established in the 1980s and is managed by the American Turkish Association of Washington DC, a 501c, tax exempt, non-profit association. The goal of the school is to provide Turkish language and culture classes for Turkish-American children ages 5 to 12 so that they may retain important aspects of Turkish culture while growing up in the United States. Children learn in a fun, yet structured environment. Light homework is assigned to reinforce classroom teachings. In addition to learning about Turkey and the Turkish language, children are able to socialize with other Turkish-American children and further develop their language skills. Classes are held each Sunday morning from 10 AM to 1 PM for two, 16-week sessions from September-January and late January-May. The full schedule will be available at www.atadc.org.
